IO INFORMATICS’ SENTIENT FEATURED IN CAMBRIDGE HEALTHTECH NEWLY RELEASED “BEST PRACTICES 2008” COMPENDIUM

BERKELEY, CA - CAMBRIDGE, MA October 7, 2008. Bio-IT World and Cambridge Healthtech Institute have released a compendium of all those who participated in its annual industry competition, Best Practices 2008. Best Practices is designed to honor outstanding examples of practical relationships, technologies, business strategies, and solutions that positively impact R&D; and drug discovery industries. Competitors were reviewed by a panel of 12 industry experts who scored each on the significance of the entry, the level of innovation, the demonstration of ROI and the potential impact of the solution across the industry. The compendium, which can be downloaded at www.bio-itworld.com/bestpractices, features listings and descriptions of all submissions and highlights the winners in 7 sections: Basic Research & Development, Clinical research, Clinical Trials, Drug Discovery & Development, IT & Informatics, Knowledge Management, Translational & Personalized Medicine. IO Informatics’ Sentient was awarded Honorable Mention for placing second in the Translational and Personalized Medicine category behind Merck & Company.

“We are honored to have received Honorable Mention (2nd place) in the category for Translational & Personalized Medicine. This recognizes and rewards the spirit and productivity of our collaboration with Best Practices submission partner, Cogenics (RTP, NC), as we worked together under NIST Advanced Technology Program (ATP) award # 70NANB2H3009.” stated Bob Stanley, CEO/President of IO Informatics. “The Cambridge Healthtech Best Practices Awards are an excellent platform for companies to present and showcase their latest practical advances and successes. It also serves to allow for the exchange of information and ideas within the scientific research community, therefore fostering improvements based on open peer-review.”

Kevin Davies, Editor-in-Chief of Bio-IT World magazine said, “We would like to thank all those who participated in the 2008 Best Practices, and congratulate all the winners. We had a record breaking number of entries this year in all the categories. A special congratulation goes to IO Informatics, not only for receiving Honorable Mention for Translational & Personalized Medicine, but also for winning Best in Show at the BIO IT World Conference, for Life Science Informatics software. IO also received an award for Best Scientific Poster. I guess you could call this a triple-play for the life science informatics company!”

“We would like to take this opportunity to invite researchers to submit entries for the 2009 Best Practices. Please go to: www.bio-itworld.com/bestpractices".

IO Informatics attended last week’s Biomarker Discovery Summit 2008 in Philadelphia where they discussed the latest advances in life science informatics and demonstrated the results of the feedback from their Semantic Applications in Life Sciences Working Group – which have been incorporated into the latest version of Sentient.
