IO INFORMATICS, INC. JOINS THE tranSMART FOUNDATION
Bob Stanley, CEO, Elected to Board of Directors

Berkeley, CA, Boston, MA, Amsterdam, Netherlands- October 19, 2015

Robert Stanley, CEO of IO Informatics, Inc. ("IOI", www.io-informatics.com), announced IOI's membership in The tranSMART Foundation and Mr. Stanley's election to the Foundation's Board of Directors.

"We are delighted to be a part of the tranSMART community. Many of our customers in the pharmaceutical and clinical / translational research communities use the tranSMART platform. Our close ties to the tranSMART Foundation enable effective interaction between our complementary technologies. IOI's SentientTM software platform for data curation and integration significantly reduces time and effort to integrate data within tranSMART and increases quality, reproducibility and search precision with tranSMART," stated Stanley. "IOI's SentientTM technology was designed to provide a flexible and customizable environment that complements our customers' preferred database and research application environments. Our state-of-the-art semantic data harmonization and integration software automates data curation and loading into advanced research environments like that delivered by the tranSMART translational research database. This results in more efficient, effective and robust use of complex data from multiple sources, to deliver a better "return on data investments" for the research organizations we serve. The tranSMART relationship represents a powerful addition to the range of mission-criticalsee data analysis and informatics technologies that SentientTM benefits. We solve some of the toughest challenges facing tranSMART users by efficiently preparing and delivering curated, interoperable data from almost any source directly into the tranSMART system," added Stanley.

The tranSMART Foundation provides a global, open-sourced knowledge management platform for scientists to share pre-competitive translational research data. The member companies of The Foundation make valued contributions to the tranSMART community; participate in enhancing the tranSMART open-source platform and help advance translational medicine research.

"We are pleased to have IOI, a leader in data curation, integration and knowledge creation within the Healthcare and Life Science community, join the Foundation. Even at this early stage of the relationship, IOI has made valuable contributions to the community. In addition to complementary relationships, tools and methods, they have already contributed new software code to the community that allows users to more easily install tranSMART (https://registry.hub.docker.com/u/ioinformatics/transmart/). IOI also participated in the Cross Neurodegenerative Disease Datathon (http://transmartfoundation.org/datathon/) held this past summer in Boston, where they contributed to two award-winning teams by bringing valuable new data into the system," stated Dr. Keith Elliston, CEO of the tranSMART Foundation. "We value their contributions to the technology and user communities, as well as to the Board of the Foundation. We are looking forward Meeting in Amsterdam this week."

Mr. Stanley will speak on 'Challenges, Risks and Opportunities for Data ETL and Semantic Interoperability with tranSMART' at the tranSMART Annual Meeting hosted at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (www.transmartfoundation.org/2015-annual-meeting).
